I’m really excited to start a quilting blog so I have an outlet to talk about quilting and other crafty things. None of my friends quilt, and so they don’t always share my enthusiasm for it. Well, not enough to hear about it all the time, anyway!
Let me start off by telling you a little about myself. My name is Julie. I have a husband, a baby, and two dogs. My husband is in the Army so we are doing the Army life thing for now. We are currently stationed in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas but will be moving to Fort Stewart, GA this summer. The fun thing about moving all over the country is that I can try to run a half marathon in every state. I only have three so far, but I’m working on it!
As an Army wife, I have a love of patriotic themed decor. You will find it all over my house. My first real quilt was a 36″x 60″ American Flag. It still hangs in our dining room to this day. I love everything about this quilt, including the mistakes. And there are a lot of mistakes. I taught myself how to quilt by reading other blogs and any tutorials I could find online. I did eventually take a class at a quilt shop in El Paso, but I had finished several projects before then.
I’m looking forward to sharing what I learned while teaching myself, the benefits of taking a class, and my projects (both old and new) with you! I hope you stick around for a while! Shoot me an email or leave a comment; I’d love to get to know you! 🙂
